My first memories of this dynamic duo of Bread & Honey come from my buddy James. We as boys/men would sit in their family kitchen, his mum (Mrs. C) would slice up Open Window Bakery’s white loaf. Slather on a generous helping of butter to be followed by sweet honey. So good! To this day, when I ever have this combo on bread, my memories are immediately transported back to their kitchen.
Honey is one of the oldest foods known to mankind, the Egyptians over 4000 years ago developed the art of beekeeping. Honey often accompanied the dead on their journey to the afterlife preserved in pots. The Greeks used honey as part of religious ceremonies and sacrifices in honour of the gods.
